سینیٹرز کو بتایا گیا کہ کمپنیاں فائبر آپٹک کی درآمد کے بڑھتے ہوئے مالی دباؤ کے نتیجے میں شدید مالی مشکلات کا شکار ہیں۔

ٹیلی کام کمپنی کے نمائندوں نے دعویٰ کیا کہ ملک بھر میں صرف 10 فیصد ٹاورز میں فائبر آپٹک کیبل استعمال ہوتی ہے، اور جب تک حکومت فائبر آپٹک کیبل پر ٹیکس کم نہیں کرتی، پاکستان عالمی رابطوں کی دوڑ میں پیچھے رہ جائے گا۔

ٹیلی کام کمپنیوں کے دلائل سننے کے بعد سینیٹ کمیٹی نے وفاقی حکومت سے فائبر آپٹک کی درآمدات پر متعلقہ ٹیکس کم کرنے کی سفارش کی۔
